The Porolissum Forum Project is a joint Romanian–American archaeological excavation of the Roman and post-Roman city of Porolissum, located in northwestern Romania. In 2006, project leaders Dr. Alexandru V. Matei and Dr. Eric De Sena will lead the second archaeological campaign in the Forum of Porolissum. This Handbook provides background information regarding the history and archaeology of Porolissum, outlines the objectives of the Project and reviews fundamental archaeological techniques and theory.Eric De Sena is a classical archaeologist who teaches undergraduate courses for John Cabot University, Loyola University Chicago’s John Felice Rome Center and Saint Mary’s College Rome Program. He has worked extensively on pre-Roman and Roman sites in Italy, including Rome, Ostia and Pompeii. His specialties are the study of archaeological materials, especially as they pertain to aspects of ancient manufacture and trade.
