The politics of Rome's international and transnational agency

This paper focuses on the questions arising from the many international and transnational activities increasingly carried out by Rome’s political, economic and social actors. The research, the results of which are presented here, is part of a comparative analysis on the topic Cities as International and Transnational Actors. Within this larger work Rome’s international agency was analysed for the period 1994–2005 so as to answer questions about “why” and “how” a city’s international and transnational strategy emerges, and about its specific nature and orientation
