Saffron value chains. Insights from Iran. Ediz. multilingue

The volume contains a mapping of different saffron value chains, the discussion of their main advantages and disadvantages, and suggestions to upgrade trajectories and empirical implementation to promote Iranian saffron in the global market. This research was conducted by gathering primary and secondary data from saffron value chain stakeholders. The result from supply side show Iran as the main producer and exporter does not enjoy the highest market profit rate. On the demand side, the consumers show low knowledge in distinguishing high quality and genuine saffron as well its usage. They also express their concern about safety and hygiene, usage of agrochemical, and environmental impact of saffron come from Iran.
