QUICK POCKET GUIDE TO THE COMPREHENSIVE TRANSESOPHAGEAL ECHOCARDIOGRAPHIC EXAM

Con l’ecocardiografia transesofagea (indicata con l’acronimo inglese TEE) si osserva in diretta il funzionamento e l’anatomia del cuore. Questo esame diagnostico serve per supportare con la massima precisione chi esegue un intervento chirurgico, per monitorare la funzione cardiaca in terapia intensiva e per somministrare in dosi corrette i farmaci nella fase post-operatoria. La guida illustra i riferimenti anatomici delle proiezioni classiche e le tecniche sia per ottenere quelle immagini in pratica, sia per eseguire correttamente un esame di base con TEE. Per agevolare l’esecuzione dell’esame, una tabella raggruppa tutti i valori di riferimento, normali e indicativi di patologia. Maria di Ca’ Foncello" di Treviso The purpose of this guide is to provide quick and convenient access to a selection of different TRANSESOPHAGEAL ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY (TEE) cross sections, to show a comprehensive echocardiographic exam by the different TEE cross sections, with a list of the normal and abnormal echocardiographic cardiovascular measurements and hemodynamic parameters. For each TEE view a probe position is given together with anatomic correlations and cardiac assessment. The illustrated views are semi-schematic representations presented in their ideal shape. The illustrations and examples were gathered from the patient files of: the Cardiovascular Anesthesia Unit of the Department of Anesthesiology at the University Hospital of Padova, Italy; the Cardiovascular Anesthesia and Intensive Care Department at the G.M. Lancisi Hospital of Ancona, Italy; the Cardiovascular Anesthesia and Intensive Care Department at the University Hospital “Careggi” of Florence, Italy.
