The articles published in this volume come from the Second World Congress in Sports Management which was held on June 2007 at the University of Peloponnese, Department of Sport Management in Sparta, Greece. During the archaic and classical period Sparta was a very powerful city–state because it had a particular educational system (agogy) which depended on physical exercise but included arts, philosophy and science too.
