L' attualità della teoria delle élites

In this paper the theory of the élites as developed by Pareto, Mosca and Michels is resorted to in order to identify the main features of the “new élites” as they emerge in a society marked by globalization and consumerism. This should allow verifying their adherence to democratic principles in an environment in which the selection is based on “merit”.
