Induction Motors Design By A Mixed-variable Approach

In this paper we consider the optimal design of induction electric motors which can be formulated as a mixed variable programming problem. Two different solution strategies have been used to solve this problem and the obtained results have been analyzed and compared. They are very interesting and show the fruitfulness of directly taking intoaccount the presence of both continuous and discrete variables.
