Downtown São Paulo. Reflections of an international design lab

This book links together different research paths that have concerned the metropolis of São Paulo. They are reflections and design experiences that involved the Department of Architecture at the University of Ferrara and the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning at the Mackenzie Presbyterian University of São Paulo, especially the CITER and LPP research labs. In recent years, the Brazilian metropolis has been jointly studied by different groups of lecturers and students from the two universities. The papers and the syntheses of degree theses in this volume addressed the issues of urban sectors’ regeneration, giving particular attention to the design of public space, urban mobility, and informal neighborhoods recovery in central city areas.
