Endoscopic UltraSound (EUS) is a minimally invasive endoscopic examination which has enabled in the last 30 years considerable progressin the evaluation of the gastrointestinal tract walls and nearby organs and structures (mainly mediastinum, pancreas and retroperitoneum). Today EUS is a leading technique in the field of GI oncology, mainly for pre-therapeutic staging of GI cancers and for the diagnosis and staging of biliopancreatic diseases.
