3D printing in complex vascular disease

In the latest years, vascular surgery, like many other branches of medicine, is relying on techniques and materials allowing for tailored, patient-specific treatment of the most complex vascular diseases. These customized solutions require adequate technologic support to be successful, and, in this regards, 3D printing is one of the most effective innovations, capable of guiding preoperative planning, decision making, patient counseling and testing of surgical materials. Many other surgical and medical disciplines already exploit 3D printing with great benefits, and the impact of this technology on science, medicine and industrial production is widely acknowledged. This volume focuses on the application of 3D printing to the treatment of complex vascular diseases, which is still at the beginning, and yet extremely promising.
